Maxine Steinman & Dancers ~ Artist's Statement

Maxine Steinman & Dancers was formed in 1996 by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Maxine Steinman. The company strives to maintain a sense of form and style through the use of conceptual, poignant, and contemporary ideals. Combining art forms and collaborating with other artists (sculptors, musicians, and videographers), are important characteristics of this organization. The company is a mix of international artists, coming from the Ukraine, Germany, Japan, and Brazil.

Maxine Steinman's work is dedicated to expressing thoughts about the human experience though movement, depicting the inner strengths and weaknesses of people and their relationships to one another. Sometimes calm and peaceful, visually poetic, with dreamlike quietness and tender sensuality, her choreography can also be turbulent and unpredictable. Luscious full movements are juxtaposed with delicately detailed, vulnerable yet fervent movements leaving the audience with images, thoughts, and impressions.
